NFL Week 16 - Jaguars at Patriots
Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 11:31AM
The Jacksonville Jaguars (7-7) will be in Foxboro, MA today to face the New England Patriots (9-5).
With a win today the Patriots will win the AFC East division for the 7th time in 8 years. They have been unbeatable at home this season with an impressive 7-0 record.
On the other side of the ball, the Jaguars desperately need a victory to keep their playoff chances alive.
The Patriots could be without two of their best run stoppers this afternoon. Vince Wilfork and Ty Warren are both listed as questionable this week. If they don't play, it could be a long day for the Patriots defense as they will have to find a way to stop the Jaguars star running back Maurice Jones-Drew.
This is a game the Patriots should win but as we've seen so far this season, anything is possible.
My prediction: Patriots 27 Jaguars 17
The Patriots have completely dominated this game and lead 28-0 at the half. Tom Brady has throw for 150 yards and 3 touchdowns and they have rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown. The only negative in the first half was Lawrence Maroney's goal line fumble. Had he not fumbled, this game could easily be 35-0.
As I mentioned earlier, the Patriots have played inconsistently all season. Are the Patriots playing great or are the Jaguars playing poorly (or both)?
Mike Reiss' first half thoughts.
The Patriots won this game easily, dominating the Jags 35-7. They are now 10-5 and winners of the AFC East crown.
